North Smyrna Elementary Counseling Services
Classroom Counseling Lessons
The school counselor presents weekly counseling lessons in each classroom. Each class, in every grade level, will receive 6 -8 lessons per year. Each lesson is planned to support classroom principles, incorporate core values, and correlate with the school counseling program goals.
Students may meet with the counselor to discuss and set goals related to academic, social or emotional concerns. Any time during the school year, a parent may contact the school counselor to refer their child for immediate short-term counseling. The school counselor can also provide parents/guardians with outside counseling services available for extended counseling needs.
Small Group Counseling
Social Skills, Academic Success, Self Esteem, and Emotional Management. Additional groups as needed: Grief/Loss or Changing Families, etc.
This program offers a way for counselors and students to get to know one another better in an informal environment. Students eat their lunches with counselor guided conversations. These groups nurture friendships and provide a place for students to practice social skills.
